Garrison/Morton 409.1. - Rare, lavishly printed main work of Antommarchi on the human anatomy with depictions of muscles, bones and vessels and numerous details. The lithographs in outline inscribed with explanations. - Antommarchi was the last personal physician of Napoleon on Saint Helena and became famous for the emperor's death mask, its authenticity, however, caused great controversy. Antommarchi left the continent in 1836 and went to the USA, where he first worked in Orleans and later in Havana as a homoeopath. - Lacking plates 37, 39, 40-43 and 48. Foxed in places (mainly in the white margin), 1 plate detached, ca. 10 plates with small marginal tears. Binding defective.
Rare work about human anatomy. 41 (from 48) lithogr. plates and 31 (from 35) lithogr. in outline. Contemp. half cloth. - Plates 37, 39, 40-43, 48 mssing. Partly foxing (mostly in white margin), 1 plate detached, ca. 10. plates with small marginal tears. Binding damaged.
