Blindtooled contemp. calf over wooden boards and on 4 raised bands, with brass corner fittings; title stamped on front board as well as date of the edition. Folio. 12 non-numb. ll. (of 19, the last blank), 267 num. ll.
Kaczerowsky A 122. - VD 16, F 2099. - BM STC, German Books p. 316. - Second edition. - The work triggered a theologic controversy and was an issue for censorship. The nice title woodcut shows Noah's Arch, the fullpage woodcut shows god above a depiction of paradise and earth. - Lacking 6 ll. index and 1 blank l. Somehat foxed and browned in places, ca. 30 ll. with worming in the head margin. Binding slightly scraped in places, 1 corner fitting and 1 clasp removed. Howver, an all in all fine and well-preserved copy.
