Icon in upright rectangular shape. Illustration of Saint Alexander Jaroslawitsch Newski. Called by god, Alexander Newski stands in front of a dukal crown. Painted over with oklad of gilded silver. Oklad of heads and hands recessed in reliefed illustration allowing view onto icon. Title in subtle punched manner "St. Alexander Newski" (in Cyrillic letters) above image.
Oklad multiply punched with mark "λ2"
Upper center with mounting loop.
Icon with old label on verso. There typographically incribed "Cadeau de mariage du Tsar Alexandre II Nicolaievitch au Princes regnant OTTO III Schönburg - Waldenburg et Princesse PAMELA DE Labunska 22.4.1855".
The Russian tsar Alexander II: (1818 - 1881) gave this icon to Prince Otto III of Schönburg - Waldenburg (1819 - 1893) and to his wife Pamela von Labunska (1837 - 1901) on occasion of their marriage on 22 April, 1855.
