Rare Books - Manuscripts - Autographs - Decorative Prints

The result of the auction Rare Books - Manuscripts - Autographs - Decorative Prints made for a high level of satisfaction and confirmed last year's result of € 1.5 million* with a slight upward tendency. What is especially pleasant is that both established clients as well as an ever increasing number of new art lovers and buyers honor the high quality on offer.

Among the top lots we find Serge Poliakoff's only illustrated book, the de-luxe edition of Platon's "Parménide" (starting price: € 11,000 / result: € 37,000*). Hermann Hesse contributed the original manuscript of the fairy tale "Piktor's Verwandlungen" (starting price: € 12,000 / result: € 18,000*), a typescript of poem with six feather drawings with watercolors (starting price: € 4,000 / result: € 16,800*) as well as a number of postcards - all originate from a suitcase contained in the estate of Walter and Nora Schadow (total proceeds: € 61,200*). A complete and fine copy of Conrad Gesner's pioneering work "De omni rerum fossilium genere", one of the earliest and most important illustrated books on fossils, was sold for € 43,000* (starting price: € 16,000).
* The rounded result is the hammer price plus buyer's premium.
