With the estate stamp of the Kunstmuseum Basel (Lugt 1570 b), however, without the registration number. One of just eight known copies of this woodcut and the only known copy from the fourth and final state. On firm Japon. 56.5 x 38.2 cm (22.2 x 15 in). Sheet: 65,5 x 42,7 cm (25,8 x 16,8 in).

• Formerly part of the collection of Kirchner's patron, the art historian and philosopher Eberhard Grisebach (1880-1945).
• The last time a copy of this woodcut was offered on the international auction market was over 25 years ago (source: artprice.com).
• Five of the only seven other known copies of this woodcut are museum-owned: UCLA Grunwald Center for the Graphic Arts at the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles; Kunstmuseum Bern; Kunsthaus Zug; Leopold-Hoesch-Museum, Düren; Museum Ulm.
• In the year of its creation and in the following years, Kirchner made several works in oil with very similar motifs (including Gordon 880).

The work is registered in the Hermann Gerlinger Collection as SHG 786 a.
