Dated in the lower center, titled “Am Brunnen” and inscribed “2. Zustand”. With the estate stamp of the Kunstmuseum Basel (Lugt 1570 b) and the handwritten number “R 221 III” on the reverse. One of only three known copies of this etching and the only known copy of this printing state with blue plate tone. On copper plate printing paper. 20 x 25 cm (7.8 x 9.8 in). Sheet: 36,5 x 55 cm (14,6 x 21,5 in).

• The only other copy from this printing state is part of the collection of the Von der Heydt Museum, Wuppertal.
• Kirchner spent the summer of 1918 on the Stafelalp above Davos.
• In the years that followed, the life of the farmers and the Davos mountains became an important source of inspiration for the artist.
