Overall with minor surface dirt. Margins partly minimally rubbed, border areas with a few tiny colour flakings and scratch marks respectively. Canvas with minor ripples on the corners due the the stretching. Isolated barely noticeable craquelé.

Signed and inscribed 'Mch' (Munich) lower right. 80 : 100 cm (31,4 : 39,3 in). Being taught by Karl Roth and Robert Seitz in Munich, Fritz Wagner mainly worked as a genre painter and was close to the Munich painter Max Gaisser in his depiction of Dutch interiors. The group of sailors or merchants, assembled around a table and immersed in a discussion, has also been a favoured subject in his work. [RS]
