Monogrammed and dated on backing. On light, ochre cardboard, mounted on brown cardboard. 27 : 12,3 cm (10,6 : 4,8 in), the full sheet. A highly original abstract composition, which recalls Jugendstil Symbolism in both design and palette. Initially a scene painter, Stuckenberg studied at the Applied Arts School in Weimar and the Munich Art Academy. After spending several years in Paris early in his career, Stuckenberg lived in Berlin from 1912 to 1919, where he joined the “Sturm” group, which provided him with important sources of inspiration for his work.
