Signed and dated lower left. 54,5 : 44 cm (21,4 : 17,3 in). Tommi Parzinger was a member of the young designer avant-garde at the Munich Applied Arts School. Early on this versatile and prolific artist designed products for Deutsche Werkstätte, KPM and the Nymphenburg Porcelain Factory. In 1935 Parzinger emigrated to New York, where he became one of the most important American interior designers of his day. The clientele that frequented his showrooms included Marilyn Monroe and the dynasties of the seriously rich such as the Whitneys, Fords and DuPonts. Parzinger’s objects and furnishings are now firmly established on the American art market. An early Parzinger oil painting, on the other hand, is an extremely rare find. [BR]
All in all in good condition. Later retouching upper left, probably by the artist. Smaller rubbings due to the framing, partially with slight colour flakings along the edges.
