Good overall impression. Minimally discoloured.
Pen and India ink drawing.
Monogrammed and dated lower right. With Georg Tappert's monogram and inscription of the worknumber "N.M 1157" on the reverse, presumably signed "Brüning", as well as with title and inscription. On light laid paper. 17,5 : 24,5 cm (6,8 : 9,6 in), the full sheet. Death and Resurrection are themes pivotal to Wilhelm Morgner’s work. It was through studying the work of Rembrandt and van Gogh that Morgner found his own way of handling a subject so important to him. In our drawing, powerful handling of line and hatching determines the character of the work, which, in its delight in narration and faithfulness to the details of the narrative, is like a Baroque print.
