Alles von newem mit künstlichen Figuren in Kupffer gestochen und an den Tag geben. With coloured copper title, 1 coloured copper map, 1 coloured armorial copper (of 2) as well as 37 coloured coppers in the text. Frankfurt, de Bry 1593 [recte 1606-12]. Late calf with gilt spine. Bosch 38, 3. - Rodrigues 478. - Index Aurel. 126.160. - VD 16, S 8451. - Adams B 2990. - Second German edition of the important work, with the features mentioned in Sabin and Church. - This third volume, edited by Lonicer, is the most releavnt part for Brazil of the Große Reisen by De Brysch. Covers the journeys and adventures of Johann von Staden and Johannis Lery during their stays in während ihres Aufenthaltes in Brazil in 1540. - All plates in a nice and old colouring. With the very rare map of Latin America in its second state, with Mexico and Pernambuco (Burden 80). "Where the map is dated 1624, it is because, to supply one wanting in that copy, one was taken from a later edition, as this map is to be found repeated in other parts printed later" (Sabin). - Lacking the second armorial copper with the 7 crests. - Browned and foxed, with small mostly restored defects in places of magins. Binding rebound in the style of the 18th century, usinfg the old material. All in all fine copy.
Second German edition, with the features mentioned in Sabin and Church. With engr. title, 1 engr. map, 1 coat of arms (of 2) and 37 engravings in text, all engravings in fine later colouring. Later calf with gilt spine. - Binding new rebound in old material of 18th century. Browning and foxing, partly with small mostly restored marginal tears. Prints and map in fine quality.
