I-IV) of the work in ten volumes contains the deeply pessimistic story of the virtuous Justine; the second part (vols. V-X), the counterpart, describes the success story of her vicious sister Juliette.
According to the characteristics mentioned in Cohen/Ricci, our copy is the orig. edition, presumably printed by Didot , which differs from the numerous reprints in terms of the smaller and cleaner print as well as the very correct text. - Slightly discolored in places, else fine and broad-margined copy.
