Zewy at first studied at the Vienna Academy and then transferred to the academy in Munich. He was supported by the Viennese art dealer Friedrich Schwarz, for whom Zewy made numerous genre paintings in the 1880s. Participation in many exhibitions are proof of his works' great success. [CB].
