Sorlier CS 47. Signed and numbered 164/200. Typopgraphically inscribed "Ch. Sorlier Grav. Lith." in the stone. On wove paper by Arches (with watermark). 52 x 43 cm (20,4 x 16,9 in). Sheet: 70,8 x 53,4 cm (27,9 x 21 in).
The basis for this motif is the left part of a draft Chagall made for the painting "Das Lied der Lieder III". The composition was also used as a poster for the National museum in Japan. Printed by Mourlot, Paris 1975. Published by 'Gesellschaft der Freunde des Nationalmuseums Biblische Botschaft Marc Chagall', Nice. (Cf. Sorlier Plakate, p. 150/151). [AKF].
