Erste Fortin-Ausgabe des berühmten Himmelsatlanten. Gegenüber der englischen Originalausgabe von 1729 um 2 Karten vermehrt und in kleinerem Format. Mit hübschen figürlichen Darstellungen der Sternbilder. - "The first 26 [maps] are centered on major constellations visible from Greenwich; the 'extra' map published by Fortin depicts Corvus and the rear half of Hydra, which were omitted from Flamsteed's Atlas Coelestis . For Sharp's northern and southern hemispheres Fortin substituted those of Le Monnier; and he added Lacaille's map of the southern stars and a map for the alignments of the principal northern ones" (Warner). - Die Randeinfassungen der ersten 8 Tafeln sowie die ersten 4 Sternbilder von späterer Hand koloriert. - Titel mit hs. Besitzvermerk (Anquetil Duperron, vermutl. der französ. Schriftsteller, Orientalist und Gelehrte, 1731-1805). Ferner mit 7 eingelegten Notizzetteln mit Anmerkungen zu den Sternbildern, wohl von derselben Hand. - Vereinz. etw. braunfleckig. Einbd. etw. beschabt und bestoßen.
