Lower left signed and dated "1927" at a later point. Verso signed and inscribed "Sonnenuntergang". On firm creme paper. 67 x 82,2 cm (26,3 x 32,3 in), the full sheet.
Latest research has shown that Albert Birkle did not visit the Bavarian Forest before 1929. The artist signed and dated some of his works at a later point, which is why the time of origin of some works is confusing, just as it is the case with this work.
