In our untitled work from 1967 Otto Piene once more delivers proof of his mastery in a subtle coloring. He creates an almost cosmic painting from oil, smoke and fire, it is entirely based on the harmony of black and red. The colors' coherent interplay contrasts with the cloudy and willowing "Sternennebel" (Star Fog) rupturing in red in the center: a powerful yet seemingly remote explosion that takes the elementary forces of nature from the distant silence and motionlessness and makes them graspable for the observer.
