Otto Piene's artistic path is characterized by artworks in which fire plays a key role in the process of creation. Through experimenting with the element on various levels, the artist attained an increasingly poised handling and produced a wide range of unique structures. In this process intention and coincidence, but also the material's independence enter in a balanced synthesis.
