As it is the case with many graphic works by the expressionist, this lithograph also delivers proof of the artistic power gained from the immediate inspiration, which locates a state without making it subject to reflections. The seated lady, lost in thought, is seen in a moment of exhausion, the previous arousal is still tangible. All chalk lines are filled by an inner tension and add a nervous moment often inherent to states of rest.
