Inscribed and dated "Olevano 13. Aug. 1860" in lower left. Verso with several hand-written inscriptions. 40 x 58 cm (15.7 x 22.8 in).
The landscape study in oil was made on his second journey through Italy in 1859-1861. [FS].
•Atmospheric landscapre study from a notable collection with a focus on the early 19th century.
We are grateful to Mr Uwe Steinbrück, University Jena, for his kind support in cataloging this work. The work will be inscluded into the forthcoming catalog raisonné.
PROVENANCE: Collection Hans Helmut Geller (1894-1962), in 1946 and 1947 director of the State Museums, Dresden.
Private collection North Rhine-Westphalia (inherited from aforementioned in 1999).
