This work was made during a stay in China in autumn of 1913. In his journal Nolde mentions that he captures junks sailing Han River in a few watercolors. [CH].
• Realizing such great effect with just a few lines is a true masterstroke!
• One of the few watercolors that were made in China.
With a photo expertise from Prof. Dr. Manfred Reuther, former director of the Foundation Ada and Emil Nolde, Klockries, from October 28, 2019.
