With monogram in ligature on ball segment. One of just three known copies from a planned edition of five copies. Ca. 40 x 31 x 23 cm (15.7 x 12.2 x 9 in).
Cast by art foundry Hermann Noack, Berlin-Friedenau (with foundry mark "H. NOACK BERLIN FRIEDENAU").

• One of just three known copies of this bronze.
• One copy of this bronze was shown in the important Kolbe exhibition at Galerie Cassirer, Berlin in 1921.
• Unusually expressive depiction of a squatted nude.
Accompanied by an expertise isued by Dr. Ursel Berger, Berlin, from September 3, 2019. This figure will be included into the forthcoming catalog raisonné of Georg Kolbe's sculptures.
PROVENANCE: Collection Werner and Nelly Bär, Switzerland (inside with collection label).
Private collection Southern Germany (since 1960).
EXHIBITION: Die Plastiksammlung Werner Bär, Kunstmuseum Winterthur, September 16 - November 11, 1951, cat. no. 52 (no illu., erroneously titled "Kauernde").
