"Why are there people in this universe? We do not know why we are here and we also do not know what‘ll come after us. [..] What I do is an attempt to get at something I can no longer control with the mind [..]. I am trying to approach the origins, so I can get the illusion that I am at the origin and know something about the origin and thus about the future, too. " Anselm Kiefer, 2006, quote from: Anselm Kiefer, exhibition cat. Cologne 2008, p. 161.
