In the catalog raisonné of Emil Nolde's paintings the author Prof. Martin Urban mentions that Emil Nolde subsequently changed the title of this work on his hand-writtenlist from 1930 from "Bruder Hans" to "Hans Hansen". [CG].

• For a long time owned by the artist's family (Niels Hansen, the artist's nephew)
• Subdued, subtle nordic coloring.

Niels Hansen, Solderup Mark, Jejsing, Denmark (the artist's nephew, inherited from the artist in 1956).
