• Strong, Fauvist color palette.
• In 1991 part of a large solo show at Kaiser Wilhelm Museum in Krefeld.
• Macke, Heinrich Campendonk and Heinrich Nauen are the most acclaimed representatives of Rhenish Expressionism
• His hitherto little known oeuvre was honored in several exhibition over the past couple of years (Cologne 2016, Ahlen/Bonn/Erfurt et al 2017/18, Dortmund 2019).
