"From 1770 to 1772 Euler elaborated his second theory of lunar motion .. but the scientists assisting Euler were not mere secretaries; he discussed the general scheme of the work with them, and they developed his ideas, calculated tables, and sometimes compiled examples. The enormous Theoria muotuum lunae .. was thus completed with the help of Johann Albert Euler, Krafft, and Lexell - all of whom are credited on the title-page." (DSB)

Buchblock gelöst, Deckel etw. fleckig und bestoßen, Rücken mit neuem Papierbezug. Innen guterhaltenes, unbeschnittenes und tlw. unaufgeschnittenes Exemplar. - PROVENIENZ: Titel verso mit zwei kl. Contemp. interim cardboards (detached). - Upper corners partly with slight crease marks. Bookblock detached, boards slightly stained and bumped, spine with new paper covering. Insided well-preserved, untrimmed and partly unopened copy. - Provenance: 2 small stamps on title verso (University library Basle, small cancellation stamp at rear pastedown).
