Bottom right signed, dated "15 10 70" and inscribed with the personal dedication "für Panne". On creme laid paper, inscribed in Sütterlin script by a hand other than that of the artist. 21.4 x 14.2 cm (8.4 x 5.5 in), size of sheet. [CH].
• In 1968, shortly before this work was made, Janssen started a relationship with Gesche Tietjens, nick-named "Panne".
• The same year the artist was awarded the First Prize for Internationale Graphic at the 34th Venice Biennial.
• In 2004 Gesche Tietjens released the letter compilation "Ach, Liebste, flieg mir nicht weg. Briefe an Gesche (1969-1986)".
• Other drawings by the artist are at, among others, the Museum of Modern Art, New York, the Centre Pompidou, Paris, and the Hamburger Kunsthalle.
• Horst Janssen is considered one of the most important German graphic artists of the 20th century.
