Laur 347. Schult 269. With the name "Barlach" and the foundry mark "H. Noack Berlin" on the rear of the plinth. From an unnumbered edition of 12 posthumous copies cast since 1965. 47 x 19.5 x 11.6 cm (18.5 x 7.6 x 4.5 in).

• Ernst Barlach's bulky and yet expressive style is singular among the German expressionists
• He wraps his figures in vast cloaks, as in the work here, so that physicalness recedes behind expression.
