• Karel Appel is one of the most important Dutch contemporary artists.
• Particularly expressive gestural-figurative image.
• From 1948 to 1951, he was a co-founder and part of the CoBrA artist group.
• Paintings by Karel Appel can be found at, among others, the Moderna Museet, Stockholm, the Museum of Modern Art, New York, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
PROVENANCE: Art dealer Wending, Amsterdam.
Private collection, Hesse (acquired from the above in 1985).

In good condition. All in all, with craquelure and small color losses, more so in the impasto areas. With mounting tape running around the edges on the reverse, minimally overlapping to recto.
