Sehr seltene erste deutsche Ausgabe in der Übersetzung des Orientalisten Julius Theodor Zenker (1811-1884).
Reich illustriertes Werk. Charles Fellows (1799-1860), englischer Archäologe und Kleinasien-Reisender, ist der Bahnbrecher in der Erforschung des inneren Lycien. 1838 startete Fellows seine Reisen in Kleinasien und landete schließlich an der Südküste Lyciens. Eine seiner größten Entdeckungen ist das Xanthus Tal und seine Ruinen.
EINBAND: Orig.-Halblederband mit goldgeprätem Rückentitel. 22,5 : 14,5 cm. - ILLUSTRATION: Mit 63 Kupfertafeln (tls. gefaltet) davon eine kolor. und 3 gestochenen Faltkarten. Tafel 6 und 12 auf einem Blatt. - KOLLATION: XIII, 482 S. - ZUSTAND: Tls. stockfl. und gebräunt, wenige Unterstreichungen, Buchblock angebrochen, vord. Innengelenk mit Leinen verstärkt, 3 Tafeln mit Randeinriß, 1 Blatt mit langem (mit Klebestreifen hinterlegtem) Einriß. Einband berieben. - PROVENIENZ: Exlibris H. & W. Uellner.

Very rare first German edition. With 63 copper plates (some folded), 1 colored and 3 folded maps. Plate 6 and 12 on one sheet. - Plates somewhat tanned, a few underlinings, book block broken, front inner hinge reinforced with linen, 3 plates with marginal tear, 1 leaf with long tear (backed with adhesive tape). Binding rubbed.
