Wichtige und umfangreiche Sammlung von medizinischen Rezepten des Altertums, darunter das Trinken des eigenen Blutes als therapeutischer Ritus.

Zweite lateinische Ausgabe und erste mit den beiden angehängten Werken von Antonio Benivieni und Polybus (VD16, B 1720 und P 4091). - Der römische Arzt Scribonius Largus lebte im 1. Jahrhundert nach Christus zur Zeit des Kaisers Claudius und gilt als Schüler von Apuleius Celsus. "This is an important compilation of drugs and prescriptions. Among other things, it records the drinking of one's own blood as a therapeutic rite. Scribonius was one of the first to describe accurately the preparation of true opium" (Garrison/M.).

Second Latin edition and first with the two appended works by Antonio Benivieni and Polybus. Modern cloth. 16 : 10,5 cm. - Lacking last leaf with the woodcut printer's mark. - Partly slightly browned and waterstained, title soiled and loose, last 4 leaves with small worm marks in the upper margin. Title stamped (University of Landshut and withdrawn stamp of the UBM).
