• A year earlier, in 1992, Penck exhibited for the third time at documenta in Kassel.
• The logic and systematics of A. R. Penck's sign language are unique in German post-war art.
• This visual language with its archaic imagery, which arose from Penck's preoccupation with ethnology, archaeology, and art history, earned him the nickname “Cave Painter of Postmodernism”.
