With the artist's monogram on the bottom of the bronze. One of 7 copies. Height without base: 67.5 cm (26.5 in). Height incl. base: 71,5 cm (28,2 in).

Other works from the collection of Prof. Dr. Manfred Pohlen and Dr. Margarethe Bautz-Holzherr, Marburg, will be offered in a special online sale from February 15 to March 15, 2026. All proceeds will go to the Pohlen-Bautz-Holzherr Foundation. [CH].
• In the 1970s, Mattheuer also created his well-known Sisyphus cycle, comprising three paintings in which the mythical figure of Sisyphus responds to his urge for change with great energy and creativity (Albertinum, Dresden State Art Collections).
• Allegory of life: dynamic and full of energy, Sisyphus tries to move forward within the wheel that encloses him.
• In 1977, Wolfgang Mattheuer participated in documenta 6 in Kassel.
• The artist's sculptural works are very rare on the auction market.
