Sommer im alten Dorf (am Ortseingang von Fischerhude). 1930.
Oil on canvas (painted on the unprimed reverse side).

• Modersohn captures the peaceful, idyllic atmosphere of the Lower-Saxon village of Fischerhude, where he lived from 1908 until his death.
• With refined brushstrokes, he evokes a summery mood that unfolds in the dance-like interplay of light and shadow.
• The artist is considered an outstanding protagonist of the Worpswede School.
• Modersohn and the Worpswede painters established a subjectively colored landscape art characterized by emotional immediacy and atmospheric density.
We are grateful to Mr. Rainer Noeres, Otto Modersohn Museum, Fischerhude, for his kind expert advice.
PROVENANCE: Dr. Ing. Heinrich Eckert Collection, Munich (with a label on the reverse).
Ever since family-owned.
