Inscribed “B 1961” and with a direction arrow on the reverse of the stretcher. With the estate stamp on the stretcher and twice on the canvas. 80 x 98 cm (31.4 x 38.5 in). [KA].
• Brüning at his best: calligraphic “gestural signs,” dramatic red-ochre-black contrasts, and a direct urgency of expression.
• Another work from the same year fetched the highest price ever for a Brüning painting (source: artprice.com).
• 1959, 1964, and 1968: Participation in documenta II, III, and IV in Kassel.
• Part of an acclaimed private collection in Berlin for nearly 40 years.

another 0.25 % of the hammer price over 500,000 euros.
The maximum total of the resale right fee is EUR 12,500.
The artist‘s resale right compensation is VAT-exempt.
