• A spirited landscape from Wilhelm Busch's picturesque oeuvre, executed with quick brushstrokes.
• A hidden yet central motif: the “red jacket” provides a subtle counterpoint to the landscape and is one of the artist’s favorite stylistic devices.
• The landscapes, which Wilhelm Busch largely withheld from the public, are now held in, among others, the Neue Pinakothek and the Städtische Galerie im Lenbachhaus in Munich, and in the Albertinum - Galerie Neue Meister in Dresden.
PROVENANCE: Private collection, northern Germany
