Signed, monogrammed and dated in the lower right. 48.9 x 58.3 cm (19.2 x 22.9 in), the full sheet.
With another depiction on the reverse. [AW].
• Early, gestural, dynamic, and colorful work by the acclaimed representative of German Informalism.
• Composition of wonderful expressiveness, the white "Drippings" show distinct similarities to Jackson Pollock's Action Painting.
• Participated in documenta II, III, and 6 in Kassel in 1959, 1964, and 1977.
• Works by Bernard Schultze are in important museum collections, such as the Tate Gallery, London, the Folkwang Museum, Essen, and the Museum Ludwig, Cologne.
The work is listed in the artist's handwritten catalogue raisonné. We are grateful to Dr. Barbara Herrmann, Cologne, for her expert advice.
