Das farbintensiv aquarellierte Blatt gehört zu einer Serie von 12 Kreidelithographien, die unter dem Titel Montmartre zusammengefaßt sind. Es erschien im Kiepenheuer Verlag, Potsdam.
Die Malerin Lou Albert-Lazard (1885-1969) pflegte ihr ganzes Leben eine besonders innige Beziehung zu Frankreich, insbesondere der kulturellen Metropole Paris. 1908-1914 studierte sie in München Malerei. Sie hatte freundschaftliche Verbindungen zu Alexej von Jawlensky und Marianne von Werefkin und hatte Kontakte zu Wassily Kandinsky, Paul Klee und Franz Marc. Während ihrer Zeit in München hatte sie ihre ersten Ausstellungen in der Galerie Thannhauser sowie in der Münchener Secession. Im Leben und auch der Kunst war Lou Albert-Lazard geprägt durch ihre Liebesbeziehung zu Rainer Maria Rilke. In intensivem künstlerischen Austausch inspiriert sie Rilke zu zahlreichen Gedichten. Ihre Liebe zu Paris und der Welt des Varietés äußert sich insbesondere in den expressiven Montmartre-Blättern, die u. a. 1925 in der Berliner Galerie Alfred Flechtheim ausgestellt wurden.
- ZUSTAND: Leicht gebräunt, mit schwachen Knickspuren, am Ober- und Unterrand mit kl. (tls. hinterlegten) minim. Randeinrissen. Unter Passepartout montiert.
This intensely colored print belongs to a series of 12 chalk lithographs entitled "Montmartre," published by Kiepenheuer Verlag, Potsdam. Original watercolor lithograph. Signed. On thin wove paper. 37 : 47.5 cm. Paper size 41.3 : 54 cm. - Slightly browned, with faint creases, and small (partially repaired) minimal tears at the top and bottom edges. Mounted under a passe-partout.
