Kauf- und Eigentumsbestätigung für den Londoner Verleger Sands über das Porträt von Polaire, das Toulouse-Lautrec 1897/1898 schuf.
"Je declare par la présent avoir vendu à M. [W. H. B.] Sands éditeur à Londres le portrait de Polaire qui a été reproduis dans le Paris Magazine et ce dessin appartient per conséquent à M. Sands en toute propriété". Bei dem erwähnten Bildnis handelt es sich um das Porträt von Emilie Marie Bouchard, genannt Polaire (geb. 1879). Sie war Sängerin in der Scala am Boulevard de Strassbourg, die von Toulouse-Lautrec und Leclerq gemeinsam häufig besucht wurde. Das erwähnte Porträt der kleinen Sängerin schuf Toulouse-Lautrec aus dem Gedächtnis und beeindruckte damit nicht nur die Dame selbst. Im Dezember 1898 erschien eine Reproduktion des Bildes in dem Journal The Paris Magazine I, Nr. 1, das Sands herausbrachte.
