• A unique piece from the famous “Portraits” series.
• Through his unique color combinations and brushwork, Knoebel imbues the three-dimensional wooden form with a “painterly quality” and individual character.
• Knoebel took the stylization of the human portrait head, as originated in Jawlensky’s “Meditations,” to its extreme in this series.
• Imi Knoebel participated in documenta 5, 6, 7, and 8.
