With the estate stamp of the Kunstmuseum Basel (Lugt 1570 b) and the handwritten registration number “K Be / Bg 47” on the reverse. On laid paper (with the watermark "SLG"). 67.5 x 50.6 cm (26.5 x 19.9 in), nearly the full sheet. [CH].


• A large, elaborate drawing from the artist’s sought-after Berlin period.
• With dynamic, expressive lines, Kirchner captures the figures’ movement on paper in an immediate and unadulterated manner.
• The female nude in the studio was among the artist’s main motifs at the time.
• It also appears in the painting “Three Bathers” (1913, Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney) and the monumental triptych “Bathing Women” (1915/1925, Kirchner Museum, Davos, private collection, and National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C.)
