• Copley’s imagery thrives on surreal mystery: whimsical and erotic elements coalesce within a cool, blue palette.
• In the 1960s, he developed his distinctive visual language, blending elements of comics, Pop Art, and Surrealism.
• In 1972 and 1982, he participated in documenta 5 and 7 in Kassel.
• Comparable paintings from the 1960s are at, among others, the Museum of Modern Art, New York; the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA), Chicago; the Centre Pompidou, Paris; and the Museum Ludwig, Cologne.
