Signed, dated, and inscribed with a monogram in the lower right. Titled in the lower left. Signed, monogrammed, and dated on the reverse. On sturdy Schoellershammer cardboard (with a blindstamp). 49.5 x 71.3 cm (19.4 x 28 in). Cardboard: 51 x 73 cm (20 x 28,7 in).

• A vivid and technically superb colored-pencil drawing with a mysterious aura.
• Friedrich Schröder Sonnenstern is considered one of the most important representatives of Art Brut and Outsider Art.
• The 1959 Paris Surrealism exhibition curated by Breton and Durchamp celebrated him as one of the most significant artists of the 20th century—his buyers included names such as Picasso, Max Ernst, and Henry Miller.
• In the same family collection for over 35 years.
PROVENANCE: Galerie d'Eendt, Amsterdam (with the gallery label on the reverse).
Private collection, North Rhine-Westphalia (acquired from the above in 1989, in the family’s possession ever since).
In good condition, with vibrant colors. The outer edges of the cardboard are slightly soiled and show some trace from the production, with a few minor dents here and there. There are a few very faint scuffs and slight scratches.
