• A harmonious and airy watercolor from Nay’s most significant creative period, the “Scheibenbilder” (Disc Pictures) series.
• Owned by the same family for approximately 60 years.
• Offered on the international auction market for the first time (source: artprice.com).
• Other watercolors from this year are at, among others, the Museum Ludwig in Cologne, the Staatliche Graphische Sammlung in Munich, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
The work is registered in the periodically updated and regularly expanded (online) catalogue raisonné of E. W. Nay’s works on paper by Dr. Magdalene Claesges, Cologne, under the number “WV-C 58-019.1.” We are grateful for the kind assistance.
