With inscription "Rosalba Carriera 1670-1757" on verso as well as typographed inscription "No. 88 / der Königl: Gemälde Galerie zu Dresden".
We are grateful to Dr. Andreas Henning, conservator for Italian painting at the 'Gemäldegalerie Dresden', for his expert advice.
(Old Masters Picture Gallery) in Dresden up until 1924, it carried the gallery number P 88. Back then the director of the gallery Hans Posse traded it with the art dealer Jacob Heimann for a female nude by Wilhelm Trübner. In 1948 he sold the pastel to the San Diego Museum of Art in the USA, where it can be found up until today.
