The strong paiting-like duct of this humorist work with which Corinth surprised his wife shows a fundamental technical mastery that characterizes Corinth's work. The airy concept underlines the spirited composition in its spontaneous dynamic to which he even sacrificed certain aspects of expression. The hideaway on Walchensee that the Corinths had acquired in 1918, turned out to be an extremely inspiring place. The Walchensee-Pictures are excellent landmarks in his later period of creation, incarnation and reflection of German Late-Expressionism. [KD].
