Fucile (2-teilig). 1980.
Oil on canvas with ceramics pistol glazed in colors.
Verso signed, twice dated and barely legibly inscribed. 203 x 230 cm (79,9 x 90,5 in).

PROVENANCE: Galerie Michael Haas, Berlin (with stamp on stretcher).

In this typical large-scale work, the artist plays with sculptural elements. In addition to the canvas painting the ceramic gun is mounted on the wall pointing at the painting. Thus, the plastic weapon seems to have "shot" the painted gun on the paintings, with its bright yellow it is in strong contrast to the otherwise black-and-white landscape. The result is an exciting comparison of two-and three-dimensionality, as well as of color and black-and-white monotony. Our work exemplifies Cucchi personal symbolism which leaves decryption to the viewer based on individual findings. [SM]
