The painter and graphic artist Günter Fruhtrunk tried to probe the boundaries of Geometric Abstraction and to develop a dynamic variety of concrete painting during his time in Paris between 1954 and 1966. Henceforth, the image space became dynamic and destabilized through the arrangement of stripe structures, vertical and later also diagonal. This work is characterized by a strong stylistic reduction. Diagonal violet and blue stripes run across the white background and add rhythm. Frühtrunk realizes an impressive dynamization of the strictly geometric composition with just a few reduced means.
