Essay
Giorgio Morandi's landscapes are characterized by a calm and meditative atmosphere. Between nature as the pictorial object and its transformation into an unfamiliar image, he creates interpretations that are coined by high suspense. Our sheet delivers a wonderful account of what matters to Morandi: the things that are truly visible. This way he ties in with the landscape conceptions of Cézanne, developing their meditative effigy in geometrical forms.
