Nu allongé vers la droite, s’appuyant sur le bras gauche. Um 1914.
Reddish Pen and India ink drawing.
Signed in lower right. On thin creme wove paper, with perforated edges at top. 20.8 x 26.7 cm (8.1 x 10.5 in), size of sheet.
Germaine Raynal, wife of the French art critic Maurice Raynal, presumably posed for this drawing. She acted as model to Matisse on many occasions. [CH].

This work's authenticity has kindly been confirmed by Wanda de Guébriant.

PROVENANCE: Henri Marie Petiet, Paris (acquired from the artist in 1928).
Collection Hahnloser, Winterthur/Switzerlamd (presumably acquired from aforementioned in fall of 1931, until at least 1969).
Private collection Rhineland.
